VISION4 HAITI TO SEND CLOTHING, FOOD AND SUPPLIES TO HELP PEOPLE DEVASTATED BY THE EARTHQUAKE IN JANUARY

Vision4Haiti is a not-for-profit organization which has been traveling to Haiti bringing hope, encouragement and support for the last ten years. Their endeavors have included developing a fresh water well and filtration plant. Now they are currently collecting supplies to help those devastated by the earthquake on January, 12, 2010.

Donations of new or slightly used clean clothing, non-perishable food, medical supplies, furniture, appliances, sleeping bags and bedding are still needed to help the people who lost everything in this tragedy.

Items are being collected on Saturday mornings from 9:00 am until 1pm at New Zion Christian Fellowship, 14200 Chicago Road, Dolton, IL.

Cash donations are also needed to help with the shipping cost. Visit www.vision4haiti.org to make a donation, see pictures and learn more about the work being done in Haiti.

Vision4Haiti partners will make sure all donations go directly to people in need and will not be warehoused or used inappropriately.

Updates From Haiti

 Pastor Jephthe Lucien

June 8, 2010

I am in Port-au-Prince right now with Nadie. For the last five days she has been hospitalized at 3 different hospitals. We are just doing our very best to try to save her life.  We will continue to do so.

In the meantime, we continue to allow the Lord to use us to be a special blessing to the earthquake victims in Port-au-Prince and in Pignon.

As I write, I have over 150 letters on my desk. They are all addressed to Papi Jeph. Most of them saying: " I know that you love me and that you care for me. We understand that we have to leave but we don't have anywhere to go.  See what you can do for us."

In our efforts to help EQ victims, I have helped thousands of people to get reunited with their families.   We have also brought 348 people from Port-au-Prince to Pignon. They have been staying at the camp since January after the earthquake.  Supports that we have received from friends have been used to make sure that these have been fed daily, that they receive all the medical care that they need. We make sure that we buy them uniform and other things that they need to go to school.  I try to help them meet their simplest and more complexe needs.  Most of them are like my children.  One of my goals was to make sure that the children would not lose the accademic year. They all moved for the purpose of coming to school. Several of them are orphans under the supervision of someone from their Neighborhood while they were living in Port-au-Prince. I made no other promise to them. School for the 2010 accademic year was our goal. They had been occupying a camp facility. It is always busy during the summer.  Now that the school year is about to come to an end (June 24 is the last day), Now that I no longer have a way to even provide to their  daily  needs,  they have been asked to leave by the first week of July. Please pray for me. This is tough.

I spent this past Sunday in Port-au-Prince. This was so precious to preach the Word at the Eglise Baptiste Jerusalem de Croix-des-Bouquets. We are already talking about our first anniversary celebration on September 5th.  The church is located just 200 feet from a tent city. Ministry opportunity is right next door to us.  I had an opportunity to meet for 20 minutes after church with one of the most faithful family of the church. They have not missed one serce since day one. Their oldest child is 13 and she is a girl. Their son is 7. They have not been married because of they have no money.  They were planning to get married in February, then they lost everything during the EQ. Huges, the man of the family says: "we come to church because we feel obligated to. I don't feel comfortable because I am not doing what God asks of me. Last year I was fine because I was living in darkness."  In two weeks the church is going to have a great celebration organizing the wedding of this couple. Ministry can be so much fun even in the midst of hardship. Please pray that we would be faithful to God even in tough time.

Blessings to you all,
Jephthe

Container Shipment Update

A very special Thank You to everyone who has supported our effort to ship a 40-Foot container filled with goods overseas to the people of Haiti in hopes to relieve the burdens of those affected by the Earthquake. This is a major undertaking, but we must stand fast and not allow this opportunity to pass. Let's show them that we have not forgotten about them!

We are at the half-way mark and are still accepting material and monetary donations. We still need furniture, summer clothing and shoes for adult's and children, building materials, bikes etc. And as many of you that can, Please consider a donation of $50 to help cover the cost of the shipment. You can give here on the website through PayPal on the "Donation" page or you can call the telephone number on the "Partner with Us" page with your questions or concerns.

Thank You and God Bless!

Who is Vision 4 Haiti?

We are a faith-based organization who travels to Haiti every year to meet the needs of the people.  We have a vision established; and we as an organization are working together to make sure the manifestation of our vision and mission statement come to pass.

There are other faith-based organizations that are involved with us. Collectively we work together toward a common goal. Those organizations includes: Jerusalem Baptiste Missions (JMB) from Pignon, Haiti. How we came to be is truly not our doing. What begins as a mission trip will change the lives of everyone who participates.

One cold day in February of 2000, Pastor Lumond Johnson took a journey to the poorest country in the western hemisphere, Pignon, Haiti.  Pastor Johnson felt the kindness and warmth of the people in the village of Pignon and knew their love toward him was sincere. Immediately his heart was filled with compassion. During that week, as  Pastor Johnson began to visit and talk with the people in the village, he saw loving people living in the poorest conditions.  The thing that kept going through his mind was; what can he do to help? Truly “this should not be” he said to himself.  So he reached out and gave all he had, which was love.  After his return home, he began to tell everyone he knew about the loving people of Haiti and the great need that was there. Upon hearing about his experience, others became compelled to know more about Haiti and the need in that community. Then, Pastor Johnson began to take individuals (who’s hearts were touched) to Haiti.

Before he knew it, Vision 4 Haiti was birthed.  Now we have people from all over, who have either gone to Haiti or who has heard the story and have been touched.  They have now become a part of contributing to Vision 4 Haiti.

VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT

Our vision in Haiti is purposed in praxis of ministry to supply the needs of the whole person.  The spiritual needs are blatantly evident as well as the material needs of the people.  Haiti is not only a nation spiritually oppressed with witchcraft and false religion, but it is also burdened with a lack of infra-structure and economic mechanisms that sustain a prosperous livelihood for its people.

Our mission is in support of Jerusalem Baptiste Mission where Apostle Jephthe Lucien is the Pastor.  His ministry is not only the spiritual center of the community; it is an economic hub in the life of the community.  He inherited a legacy from his father, Pastor Sidoine Lucien that maintained the church as the holistic center of a community of life.  That center of life includes both worship ministry and marketplace ministry.
