My Experience in Haiti By Rev. Cheryl D. Cornelius
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
These words are very poignant and mean so much to all who call themselves followers of Jesus Christ. What makes a person want to travel across the ocean to a country where there is so much need because of poverty? For me, it was the love I have for Jesus, the love I have for my fellow man and the desire to see people saved and set free by the power that God gives all those who believe on His son.
When we went to Pignon, Haiti in February, 2008 I knew what to expect for the most part. Rev. Cheryl D. Cornelius continued . . . |
| Sister Barbara Johnson My February 2007 trip to Haiti was really a great experience for me. This was my first trip, although my husband has been traveling to Haiti, in the Lords name, for the past 8 years. I had heard details about the conditions of Haiti and the great need of its people. However, it was not until I got off the plane in Port au Prince and took that bumpy ride through the village of Pignon that I saw with my own eyes and felt with my heart just how great the need is there. It is hard to explain the feeling that was inside me when I saw the living conditions of the people that reside in the village. I could not believe the poverty, the darkness, and barren land of one nation. My heart felt so sorry, words cannot explain. You have to see it for yourself. Sister Johnson continued . . .
